Safeguarding is one of the most important parts of childcare, and we take your children’s safety seriously.

Village End is owned and operated by Robert & Tracey Fielder, parents of 3 grown-up children with over 40 years’ combined experience caring for children as both professionals and parents.

All of our friendly staff have obtained a fully enhanced DBS check and we regularly monitor our staff to ensure our strict safeguarding policies are being upheld at all times. Our staff are further trained on workplace safeguarding protocols with contact options available for local council safeguarding contacts at all times.

Our physical environment is safe and secure, set back from the road and offers plenty of off-road parking.

We offer a free-flow environment to promote children’s learning and our lovely large garden is fully fenced, leaving you safe in the knowledge that your children are secure in both our indoor and outdoor environments.

Road Safety

Being situated in a built up area, we know that road safety and walking roadside can be a concern to local parents.

Here at Village End we have our very own Buddy Bus, a 15 seater minibus that is specially adapted to safely transport our toddlers and children to any off-site visits and during school pick-ups.

Although we do not walk roadside, we ensure our children are prepared for the real environment by practicing road and transport role-play within the setting where we promote road safety.

Food Safety

All of our staff have completed food hygiene training and have a keen interest in child nutrition. Our snacks and meals are prepared in our Village End kitchen with temperature checks recorded at each serving.

We believe in promoting a culture and ethos of physical activity and healthy eating throughout our setting and the children are encouraged to take part in cooking activities where we teach them the importance of hygiene and food safety as well as discussing nutrition.

First Aid

We all know that kids are prone to a stumble or a trip as they learn to use those little legs!

All of our staff are Paediatric First Aid trained and receive regular refresher training to make sure they are always ready to jump into action and provide any emergency first aid treatment needed.

We will always provide parents and carers with a detailed first aid form if we have administered first aid, which is then signed by both parties and kept in your file.

Emotional Safeguarding

Safeguarding doesn’t just cover the physical aspects of your child’s life of course, but also their emotional wellbeing.

We provide a calm and loving environment for the children to feel relaxed and at home in with happy and friendly staff to ensure they feel secure in their environment.

Each child has a dedicated keyworker that is always on hand to help them and build a secure attachment base. However, we ensure that all of our staff get to know each and every child to encourage a wider support network for the child within our setting.

Every child is unique and what works for one may not work for another. Our staff are trained to remain calm when faced with challenging behaviour and will always work in partnership with parents and carers to create a behaviour management plan when needed.
